DESCRIPTION:Joshua Beamish is a British Columbian dance artist who has achieved worldwide success as a prolific choreographer and an exceptional performer: this is a chance to see both aspects of his work. The program features two of his creations – the world premiere of Lost Touch\, a new solo danced by Renée Sigouin\, and Proximity\, a duet performed by Beamish and Sigouin. Beamish also dances in two solos choreographed for him: Redemption\, by internationally-acclaimed Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa\, and Ablaze Amongst the Fragments of Your Sky by Ballet BC’s Kirsten Wicklund. Falling Upward is a dance film created by Joshua Beamish\, Scott Fowler & Stefan Nazarevich.

SUMMARY:Kinesis Dance somatheatro
DESCRIPTION:Debris is a contemporary dance work inspired by the increasing urgency of pollution and its contribution to the climate crisis. As we buckle under the weight of the accumulation of man-made waste\, Debris asks where is the body (humanity) and nature within this? In this collaborative work\, 5 dancers – Alisha Davidson\, Arash Khakpour\, Eowynn Enquist\, Juan Villegas\, Matt Wyllie\, and apprentice Jenna Berlyn – physically explore the effects of ‘debris’ that submerge both their internal and external environment. The work seeks for a hopeful re-integration of a respectful relationship between nature\, the body and each other. \nThis pre-recorded showing will share excerpts of work in progress\, and a discussion with the choreographer.

DESCRIPTION:This short film profiles the three stories of Okams Racer collective members Ana Sosa\, Jenna Berlyn and Sam Krystal during the pandemic. \n“We are all affected in one way or another by Covid-19. Whether it is loss of a loved one\, stress over online school\, or having your career on hold\, all these issues cause us to feel the sadness\, desperation\, and frustration that come with containment. Dance unites us during these hard times\, and we find solace in dancing together\, while apart.” \n
