Residuals (\u4f4f\u307f\u30fb\u58a8)<\/em> draws visual, sonic, and physical influences from Japanese calligraphy. Dynamic brushstrokes inform Carter\u2019s movement as she dances among sheets of translucent paper, evoking an abstracted memory of her Japanese grandparents\u2019 rural home. Reliving these memories sparks a journey of self-discovery, where the layers of her identity begin to unfurl. The performance also includes the premiere of a short solo, choreographed\u00a0by Ziyian Kwan, commissioned and performed by emerging dance artist\u00a0Juolin Lee. Entitled\u00a0Daydream Shadow, <\/i>the work is at tone poem that captures Kwan\u2019s vivid imagery in tandem with Lee\u2019s physical prowess.<\/p>\n
