The group/party class schedule is carefully designed to suit your learning needs. Each class is designed for newcomers and advanced. No partner or experience required.
This program is designed as an introduction to the popular social dances and the teaching methods of the Toronto Social Dance School. The program will allow you to fulfill your immediate needs while allowing your instructor an opportunity to evaluate your dancing with respect to your future needs. You will be able to start to distinguish the different dances and get a sense of what you are really looking for out of your dancing.It's 5 private lessons for $375 (singles or couples).
This program develops the most important dances you plan to use immediately at a basic level. Emphasis is placed on the three most important elements of dancing: Foot Positions/Rhythm and Timing/Leading or Following. You will also learn enough variety to keep things interesting and can last from anywhere from 3 months to a year depending on how many dances you choose and your frequency of lessons.
With this program we teach you how to move more gracefully around the floor incorporating both rise and fall as in the waltz, or a hip action as in your rhythm dances. Here you will understand the characteristics of each dance and may be unable to pick a favourite as you will be able to begin to feel each one.
This program begins to develop your arms and your body sway giving you the look and feel of a good dancer. Your floor craft will give you the ability to navigate around the dance floor in a smooth dance or be able to hold your own on a crowded dance floor in the rhythm dances. You will be introduced to more dances and your dance body will become that much more of a real dancer.
This program is designed to be able to have you walk onto the dance floor in any social situation and be able to dance any rhythm or any dance. You will feel comfortable and confident and may even be able to hold a conversation with your partner as you gracefully move with your partner around the floor. You will find at this level that you will achieved any or all of the benefits you were looking for originally with a new sense of self-esteem.
Silver is a dance standard with a much greater degree of styling. Flashy movements will ensure the Silver dancer will stand out on any floor. Continuity of movement will make a couple glide around the dance floor, with many natural changes of direction. Styling makes this standard develop an individual's character. Technique, balance and control take on an entirely new meaning as the silver dancer moves in and out of crowded floors. This standard is the beginning of the showy and flashy dancing standards used mainly on the ballroom floor.
Our Gold standards are for the stars. This is strictly a level for the hobby dancer interested in performances, exhibitions or competitions. Its intricate patterns are only to be used when both people know what they are doing. Choreography, styling, technique, and showmanship are necessities in this standard. This material is not generally used on a crowded dance floor. You had better be prepared to work if this is your goal, but you will be regarded as an outstanding dancer able to excel in any dance.
This program is designed to get the wedding couple on the floor quickly showing their love for each other in front of their friends and family. Their dance can be simple or flashy depending on their personality. Each of our programs depends on how good you want to look and the commitment you want to put into it. Three months is the norm for couples wanting to achieve a little bit of comfort on the floor.
We do offer group classes periodically covering the basics of individual dances while having fun doing it! If also you have a group of people interested let us know.
DANCERCISE / LINE DANCING FITNESS
Designed to get to know the basics of Ballroom and Latin dances, ideal for singles and couples. It combines high energy and motivating music with basic moves and combinations that allow the participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" allowing participants to achieve long-term health benefits.
It utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.
